There is a lot going on in the wonderful world of luxury watches. Market shifts are taking place all over the world and many major brands are setting a new course. The well-known BaselWorld watch fair in Basel is experiencing this too. In recent years, the vast majority of exhibitors have bid the fair farewell and entire halls have even closed. The fair seems to have hit an all-time low. Who is reaping the benefits of this? Among others, the watch and jewellery fair Inhorgenta in Munich. And we were of the party this year.

Inhorgenta Münich was actually a bit slumped. Especially in the watch field. But with all the shifts at the big fairs, this gives this German fair a chance to make a fist(s). They did so this year with, among other things, a revamped watch pavilion, creating a village with a large bar in the middle. The "houses" in the village were occupied by several watch brands, including Ebel, Union Glashütte, Meistersinger and Sinn Spezialuhren. We had a nice spot in the middle of the pavilion, where our brought sheep smilingly welcomed everyone with the text "Bist du Bereit, die Herde zu verlassen?" (Are you ready to leave the flock?"). Although the sheep was made of polyester, it made many friends and was often photographed. Especially for the fair, we made new display cases and loaded half the household goods from the Staudt HQ in Boekelo into a van. Partly because of the coffee table topped with a large bunch of fresh Dutch tulips and stroopwafels, the stand felt very homely.
Besides the current collection, visitors were also shown a sneak-preview of the new models we will introduce this year. It is always very exciting to share new projects with the outside world for the first time and wait for the reactions. Fortunately, the reactions were purely positive, so that gives people courage! It wasn't just about watches. At appropriate moments, the founder of Staudt Twenthe, Yvo Staudt (read his story here), his instrument to play a beautiful tango by Astor Piazzolla. These little concerts filled almost the entire hall and many people came to listen curiously. So you see, the power of music is piece stronger than words!
Our good friends from '0024 WatchWorld' magazine also visited and recorded a nice interview between Harry Wijnschenk and Yvo Staudt. You can download this here view.
